Who We Are

The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) is a labor union that represents 1.3 million hard-working men and women in the U.S. and Canada. We are a 501(c)(5) nonprofit organization that believes in the power of ordinary people coming together to improve their lives and make a lasting difference for all working people.

Why UFCW?

As the largest private sector labor organization, we are looking for candidates to join our team who will bring innovative methods and cutting edge ideas to help grow our diverse membership base, support workers’ rights and brand the UFCW as the union for workers in the grocery, retail, packing and processing, health care, cannabis and winery and distillery industries. The UFCW is headquartered in downtown Washington, D.C. but staff work closely with local unions to organize and support our members across the U.S. and Canada.

Open Positions

Application Support Specialist

The United Food Commercial Workers International Union, (UFCW) a powerful voice for working men and women, is seeking an Applications Support Specialist to support software applications used by UFCW staff.  Software applications support UFCW staff comprises the majority of the job. This position is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.


Content Strategist

The Content Strategist develops content for use across UFCW’s social media platforms and websites. This role has significant responsibility for finding new and creative ways to use video, graphics, and text to express UFCW’s brand, voice, and message on both public and private platforms. The Content Strategist will also develop content with the goal in mind of expanding the union’s online influence and engagement among our members and our industries (retail, grocery, meatpacking, distillery, and others).


Digital Organizer

The team seeks an outgoing Digital Organizer to accelerate UFCW’s organizing communications with workers online and in the field. This is an opportunity for an experienced professional to take the lead in building our union’s digital organizing program and further developing strategy to reach and develop relationships with potential members. The ideal candidate for this role will bridge traditional organizing with digital savvy to reach new audiences in innovative ways.


General Office Clerk IV

The 1.3-million-member United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), a powerful voice for working men and women, is seeking a General Office Clerk IV to act as the account representative for some of UFCW’s overhead service accounts and assists with secretarial overflow work and special projects, as assigned. The position also provides clerical support to departments and offices.


National Press Secretary

The National Press Secretary assists the Communications Department in overseeing press strategies for the organization. This position will develop, plan and implement media outreach plans that support the UFCW International Union in its organizing, bargaining, and political efforts.


Records Manager

Coordinates and maintains UFCW’s records including organization, storage, preservation and thorough review, interpretation and adherence of the UFCW’s Official Retention Schedule, which promotes compliance with record retention laws and regulations, facilitates the litigation discovery process when needed, protects proprietary and other organization information and increases organizational effectiveness through better record-keeping and best retrieval practices.


Research Assistants

The UFCW is seeking curious, open-minded researchers to use well-researched information to develop and execute comprehensive campaigns and to provide research and analysis that advances the interests of the Union in our industries.
