UFCW is the Union for Pharmacy Workers!

At the UFCW, we understand that pharmacy workers play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of our communities. That’s why we’re proud to be the leading union representing pharmacy workers across the country at Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, Albertsons, Kroger, and more! Whether you’re a pharmacist, technician, sales associate, stockist, or any other vital member of your pharmacy, the UFCW is here to support you.

We know that the strength of our union lies in the collective power of the pharmacy workers who have built it. When you stand together, you’re not only protecting your rights, but also creating a better future for your profession and the customers you serve. By joining forces, you have the ability to negotiate for fair wages, better benefits, sufficient staffing, and safer working conditions. It’s your unity that drives positive change in your workplace.

When you start a union at your pharmacy, you and your coworkers are joining a movement of workers dedicated to making a difference in their workplaces and communities. Together, we can create a better future for pharmacy workers and ensure you have the resources and benefits you need to provide the best care.

“We organized with UFCW Local 5 because pharmacy professionals need to have a voice in an increasingly corporate retail pharmacy sector. We must now work together to improve our careers, create a better future for our profession and give the type of service and patient care that our patients deserve.”

Jacob Koontz | Pharmacist, UFCW Local 5

What’s in Our Members’ Contracts

Here are some highlights from contracts that our pharmacy retail associates recently won:

Hourly pay increases of $2.25 an hour over the life of their contract with 8 months of retroactive pay increases.

Reduced time to reach the experienced rate of pay in all classifications.

Night premium pay increased to 50 cents per hour.

Paid vacation that increases with seniority, adding up to five weeks of paid time off per year for long term employees.

Health and Safety Committees that promote workplace safety and violence prevention.

Policies that addressed the hazards of working in the retail sector during the pandemic.

UFCW Stands with Walgreens and CVS Workers

We are proud to support all of the hard-working pharmacy staff who have decided to take a stand by walking out and fighting for a better life at work. By standing together, workers are showing Walgreens and CVS that they will not sit by as these corporations continue to fail them.

The UFCW represents thousands of pharmacy workers who work hard to keep their stores running every day. We have seen the toll that the pandemic took on our members as they risked their lives daily to ensure the safety and wellbeing of communities across the nation. Their contributions cannot be forgotten. We applaud all pharmacy workers and support their right to make their voices heard and join a union.
