UFCW Supports Walgreens and CVS Workers

October 12, 2023 Updated: November 13, 2023

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), which represents 1.2 million essential workers across North America, including retail pharmacists, released the following statement in response to CVS and Walgreens pharmacy staff walking off the job in protest of working conditions.

UFCW International President Marc Perrone released the following statement:

“We support all of the hard-working pharmacy staff who have decided to take a stand by walking out and fighting for a better life at work. By standing together, workers are showing Walgreens and CVS that they will not sit by as these corporations continue to fail them.

“The UFCW represents thousands of CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid workers, including pharmacy staff, who work hard to keep their stores running every day. We have seen the toll that the pandemic took on our members as they risked their lives daily to ensure the safety and wellbeing of communities across the nation. Their contributions cannot be forgotten. We applaud all pharmacy workers and support their right to make their voices heard and join a union.”
