UFCW: Georgia Runoff Result Is Key Victory for Essential Workers

December 7, 2022

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), which represents 1.3 million workers in grocery stores, meatpacking plants, and other essential industries across North America, responded to the 2022 Georgia runoff election results.

UFCW International President Marc Perrone released the following statement:

“Georgia voters delivered a powerful message with the victory of Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock, signaling a key victory for UFCW’s members and essential workers both in Georgia and across the country.

“Our union worked tirelessly to get out the vote, with UFCW members across Georgia mobilizing their fellow members and communities to make working families’ voices heard. As a result, Senator Reverend Warnock will have the opportunity to continue his proven track record of standing up for America’s working families in the Senate.

“Our union has much to be proud of thanks to the mobilization effort our members mounted during this year’s midterm elections, both in Georgia and across the country. We look forward to continuing to fight for essential workers and their families with Senator Reverend Warnock and all of his Senate colleagues as we head into this next Congress.”
