Zara Workers in Connecticut Ratify a New Contract

May 25, 2022

Over 60 members of UFCW Local 919 who work at two Zara stores in Greenwich and Norwalk, Conn., ratified a new contract on April 15 that strengthens wages and benefits.

These hard-working women and men joined our union family last year because they wanted a voice in the workplace like their unionized colleagues in New Jersey and New York, who are represented by UFCW Local 888 and RWDSU/UFCW Local 1102. The new contract includes wage increases, additional vacation days (including Juneteenth), and bereavement days. The contract also includes modifications to the grievance procedure for better clarification and communication.

“We are proud to be able to bring a second contract to this newly organized group of workers,” said UFCW Local 919 President Mark A. Espinosa. “They have begun to understand the difference union membership means as wages and working conditions continue to be improved.”
