ShopRite Union

UFCW is the union for ShopRite grocery workers.

UFCW, America’s grocery union, represents grocery workers at all of your favorite stores like ShopRite, Stop&Shop, Shaw’s, ACME Markets, and more. We believe all the hardworking people at ShopRite deserve the best wages and benefits available – backed by a union contract.

We know ShopRite workers have always been essential and should be treated that way. All ShopRite workers deserve affordable healthcare, stable schedules, living wages, and safe workplaces. Unfortunately, not every ShopRite store has union representation. No matter what ShopRite store you’re at – you deserve a union contract and the benefits that come with it!

Ready to start a union at your ShopRite store?

Ready to negotiate together for bigger paychecks, stronger benefits and better lives? If you are, the steps to joining the UFCW are simple.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all ShopRite stores union?

Some are, and some unfortunately are not. The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) represents thousands of ShopRite workers across Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. A handful of ShopRite stores in Maryland and Connecticut are not yet unionized. ShopRite union members have a written contract that protects them on the job and guarantees their rights, wages, and benefits at work, like:

  • A living wage and yearly guaranteed raises.
  • Quality employer-paid healthcare for those who need it.
  • An equal and fair workplace, free of favoritism.
  • Clearly defined positions and job security.
  • Consistent weekly schedules and flexibility.
  • Opportunity to grow and build a better life.
  • Hundreds of member discounts.

Most importantly, our members have a voice in their pay, benefits, and working conditions by voting on their contract every 3 years.

Why did some ShopRite workers get back hazard pay and not others?

At the UFCW, we know our members deserve wages that reflect the risks and sacrifices they continue to make serving our communities on the frontline of this pandemic. That’s why UFCW Local 371  in Connecticut with other UFCW Locals in New York and New Jersey successfully negotiated over 20 MILLION dollars in back hazard pay for thousands of our members in ShopRite stores.

When you have a union at work, you and your coworkers have the ability to advocate and fight for the pay and protections you need. That’s why we believe ShopRite workers everywhere deserve a union contract!
