Who We Are

The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) is a labor union that represents 1.2 million hard-working men and women in the U.S. and Canada. We are a 501(c)(5) nonprofit organization that believes in the power of ordinary people coming together to improve their lives and make a lasting difference for all working people.

The UFCW is headquartered in downtown Washington, D.C. but staff work closely with local unions to organize and support our members across the U.S. and Canada.

Open Positions

Account Coordinator A/R

The Account Coordinator is primarily responsible for processing the ABC lockbox, overseeing and processing per capita (PC) receipts and related membership adjustments for the RWDSU local unions, calculating the AFL-CIO per capita tax and the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) affiliation dues.


Campaigns and Policy Coordinator

The Campaigns and Policy Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Director of the Civil Rights and Community Action Department and support the development, implementation, and coordination of issue campaigns pertaining to racial and economic justice, mass incarceration, voting rights, and areas of mutual interest to UFCW and our partners.


Creative Lead

The Creative Lead will create and develop visual storytelling across multiple platforms, using both photography and videography to inform and engage our target audiences. A successful Creative Lead is a versatile, collaborative self-starter with a strong visual design background — someone who keeps up with digital trends and is experienced in creating original content for social media marketing campaigns, websites, apps, and other digital media properties for nonprofits, companies, or political campaigns. Compassion for others and a commitment to supporting working people struggling to have a better life are musts for this position. The Creative Lead will work in our Washington, DC office.


Employee and Labor Relations Specialist

The Employee and Labor Relations Specialist provides operational support to the Director on labor and employee relations matters. This position plays a key role in helping administer collective bargaining agreements, managing grievance procedures, and guiding managers and staff on FMLA, ADA, and ESL requests. The Specialist ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, assists with workplace investigations, and supports disciplinary processes.

Region Office Secretary – UFCW Region 2

The Region Office Secretary performs the clerical secretarial, administrative and business detail for the Region Director, and Executive Assistant.


Senior Political Coordinator – Region 4

The Senior Political Coordinator, in coordination with local unions, is responsible for building out electoral, legislative, fundraising and activist programs under the direction of the Director.

The Senior Political Coordinator also assesses candidate viability, priority races, and meets with potential candidates to ensure they understand UFCW’s issues in collaboration with local unions. This position is also assigned to work with locals on building out their electoral programs and legislative priorities.


Technology and Data Specialist

The Technology and Data Specialist supports UFCW organizing campaigns and programs by administering, configuring, and supporting key technology and data platforms, with a primary focus on Salesforce. This role provides hands‑on system support, user training, documentation, and day‑to‑day troubleshooting for International and Local Union staff.


Workforce Development Manager

The Workforce Development Manager leads initiatives across the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to training, performance management, and retention. This role partners with managers and staff to ensure equitable hiring practices, smooth transitions, and clear development pathways. The Manager designs and delivers training programs, manages coaching and mentorship initiatives, oversees tuition reimbursement, and provides guidance on professional growth. Additionally, they monitor employee morale, conduct exit interviews, analyze feedback, and recommend improvements, while maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
