MOM’s Organic Markets Union

Start a Union at MOM’s Organic Market

Working at MOM’s is demanding, so if you’ve been wondering whether things could be better at your store, you’re not alone.

We’re a coalition of MOM’s workers who are organizing to unionize and win a real say in how things work across the company. With a union, we are taking a stand against favoritism, unfair discipline, insufficient training, and being denied raises.

Unionized MOM’s workers in Maryland have already won a first contract. Because of this contract, workers across all MOM’s stores get to enjoy weekend warrior pay, predictable schedules, and at the College Park store, a chance to take away points they were given unjustly.

The more workers who reach out to become part of our movement, the easier it is for all of us to stand up for our needs on the job. Fill out the form below to learn how you can start a Union at MOM’s.

What MOM’s Workers are Fighting for:

Fair Discipline Systems and an end to favoritism:

We all agree that the points-based discipline system needs to be changed. It’s a frustrating system that’s designed to cause confusion and throw workers under the bus for small mistakes. It also enables favoritism when write-ups and points are given unfairly to workers.

It’ll take all of us working together to find a better path forward, but with a union, we can strengthen our collective voice and bring about real change.

No more hours cuts during summer and holiday periods

We are tired of having our income and hours change when we need stability the most. With a union we can fight to have our hours stay more consistent year-round.

Reliable Schedules

Too many MOM’s workers are struggling to predict when they’ll be scheduled and how many hours they’ll get each week. This isn’t sustainable, especially amidst the growing affordability crisis.

A union can help you and your coworkers fight for consistent schedules and guaranteed minimum hours, which MOM’s workers in Maryland have already won in their union contract!

Better Pay and Guaranteed Raises

Regular raises help us stay afloat amidst rising inflation. So when MOM’s promises us a raise at a certain time, we should be able to expect that they’ll follow through on it – not come up with an excuse to deny the raise we deserve.

This is a big part of why MOM’s staff are unionizing – to make sure they actually get the pay raises they’ve earned.

Comprehensive Training

If MOM’s wants you to perform every role in the store, they need to train you and your coworkers accordingly. It’s as simple as that. MOM’s shouldn’t ask you to do things they didn’t train you on and they definitely shouldn’t punish you for making honest mistakes.

Starting a union can help you fight for better training practices, so you never feel like you’re working in the dark.

A Voice at Work

We are the reason MOM’s is successful, and we deserve a say in how that success is shared.

Having a union means having a voice in the policies that affect your daily work life. Every one of us can speak out to negotiate a contract that improves our working conditions and guarantees the benefits we need.

Job Security

You should never have to worry about whether or not you’ll still have a job next week. With a union contract, there are protections and grievance procedures set in place so that your boss can’t fire or discipline you unfairly.

We, the workers, are the reason MOM’s is successful, and we deserve a say in how that success is shared.

MOM’s Union Workers Make History With First Union Contract

Nov 20, 2025 | COLLEGE PARK, MD. — Mom’s Organic Market grocery clerks in College Park, MD became the first MOM’s store to win a union contract with the UFCW, after negotiating with the company over key demands from workers at the store. In the contract, workers secured guaranteed raises, minimum hours, and other benefits. The College Park workers will also now have additional on-the-job protections against discrimination and from being fired unfairly or at will.

This win highlights the perseverance of the MOM’s workers who organized and bargained over these issues in spite of years of union busting from the employer. With a new floor set by this contract, the College Park store has set a new standard that MOM’s staff can continue to raise at stores across the company.
