Schnucks Essential Workers Stand Together For Fair Contract that Reflects their Hard Work

June 22, 2023 Updated: July 13, 2023

Missouri, Illinois Schnucks Workers Overwhelmingly Reject Company’s Offer, Authorize a Strike

St. Louis, Missouri – Today, United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local Union 88, which represents over 1,000 Schnucks workers across Missouri and Illinois, announced that their members had overwhelmingly voted to reject the company’s contract offer and authorized union leadership to call for a strike should it become necessary. The company’s offer would have not only jeopardized the member’s health care plan but failed to offer competitive wages for their hard work.

At a meeting to go over the company’s offer, UFCW Local 88 President Dan Telle said

“Dissolving our healthcare fund is not an option and the wage package should reflect the true definition of ‘FAIR PAY.’”

“We have served our customers and our community through one of the most difficult times in our country’s history,” said Lavon Warren who works at Schnucks store in St. Louis. “We have earned and deserve competitive wages and benefits for our hard work.”
