Indiana Kroger Workers Ratify a New Contract

July 29, 2022

Over 8,000 members of UFCW Local 700 who work at 68 Kroger stores in Central Indiana ratified a new contract on July 15 that raises pay and protects benefits.

The three-year contract lifts starting pay and guarantees regular pay increases over the life of the agreement. Quality, affordable health care is protected, and weekly co-premiums will increase only $1 per week in 2025. Retirement benefits are secured through defined benefit pension plans, and more workers are included in these plans. Language improvements in this contract include better provisions for earning holidays and holiday pay, greater flexibility for vacation, and additional non-discrimination language.

“Our members ensure people and families in our communities have the food and supplies they need,” said International Vice President and President of UFCW Local 700 Joe Chorpenning. “The new contract raises pay; protects affordable, quality health care; and provides the retirement security our members have earned and deserve.”
