Denver Grocery Workers Reviewing Contract Agreement with King Soopers
Local 7 Update: Denver Grocery Workers Reviewing Contract Agreement with King Soopers
February 17, 2005
UFCW Local 7 grocery workers in Denver, Colo., are reviewing the contract agreement with King Soopers (Kroger) that federal mediator Scot Beckenbaugh crafted and delivered last Friday. Local 7 must vote on whether or not to accept the contract and give the results to Beckenbaugh by March 5.
The supermarket asked the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS) to draft a contract agreement with UFCW-represented employees last month. That request was voted on by Local 7 bargaining committee members and passed by a 90-percent margin, authorizing the FMCS to draw up a settlement offer.
