Enact the Equal Rights Amendment

Dear Representative:
On behalf of the 1.4 million members of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), we are writing in strong support of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). We hope that you will cosponsor H.J. Res.40 and S.J. Res. 10.
It will come as no surprise to anyone that a union would support equal rights for women. We know that our members?male and female?want justice on the job, in the community, and before the law. We believe that a great nation like ours should add women to the Constitution, and ensure equal rights for all.
Our nation has made great strides in expanding opportunities for our citizens. In fact, the great historic tradition of our nation is how we have continually worked to ensure justice for our citizens. Enacting the ERA will continue that great tradition, and I strongly urge your cosponsorship and support.
