No. A UFCW member in good standing is defined as an active member who is up to date on their dues and meets other membership requirements. Members who have retired or withdrawn are not active members. For the 2010 year, neither retired members nor their dependents are eligible for the UFCW scholarship. Yes. College students may apply. In order to better serve all members of the UFCW, it is no longer a requirement that a student be a graduating high school senior enrolling as a full time student in a 4 year degree program.
5. I’m in college, how do I apply?
The process is the same for all students. You must first fill out the application online. The answers you give should be for the last 4 school years. For example, if you are a college freshmen, you should reply to the questions using information from your high school sophomore year to the present time. A school official must send your most recent grade transcript to the UFCW. Such an official may be your academic or career conselor. It may also be someone from your registrar’s office.
6. How can I access Part B of the application?
Once you complete and submit Part A, you will be taken to Part B. You will also be able to access part B from the link you receive in your confirmation e-mail.
7. Can I print the application out and mail it in?
No. The online application must be completed online and in one sitting, so prepare your answers to the essay questions ahead of time and allow plenty of time to complete all fields. You will not be able to save information and return to the application later.
