Agriprocessors

  • Employs approximately 800 people. One of the world’s largest kosher meat producers based in Postville, Iowa, and Gordon, Nebraska. Agriprocessors produces beef, chicken, bison, turkey and lamb under the Aaron’s Best, Aaron’s Choice, Rubashkin’s, European Glatt, Iowa Best Beef, Nevel, Shor Habor, Supreme Kosher, and David’s brands.
  • Agriprocessors products are sold in supermarkets throughout the nation such as Albertson’s, Kroger, Shop Rite, Wal-Mart, Trader Joe’s, Ralph’s, Pathmark, and H.E. Butt.”
  • The plant has been the center of controversy over a variety of issues, including a number of food safety issues at the Postville plant.
  • Between 2004 and 2007 there have been numerous violations of Federal food safety procedures. During the period of January 1, 2006 to January 24, 2007, over 250 Non-compliance Records were issued by the FSIS. These documents revealed numerous violations that may have increased the risk to consumers of possible food borne illness.
  • In 2007, within the space of seven months, there were two different “Class I” meat recalls.
