Workers at Nebraska Beef Rally For Justice and a Voice on the Job
Workers and Community Members Call for a Clean and Fair Election

Rally to be held on
Tuesday, August 14, 2001
from 3-5 p.m. in front of the
Nebraska Beef Plant
4501 South 36 Street
Omaha, Nebraska

Workers from Nebraska Beef are standing strong and united. Despite the company's intimidation tactics that include interrogation, threats and terminations, the workers are sticking together demanding their right for a voice on the job.

Community members and religious leaders will join the workers at the rally. Father Damian, Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe will speak to the workers fears and let them know that the church is supporting them.

A union election is scheduled for Thursday, August 16, 2001.

Omaha's community members, religious leaders, and elected officials will put Nebraska Beef on notice that they will bear witness to whether the company allows workers a free choice for a voice on the job.

The UFCW has been working with Omaha Together/One Community to organize meatpacking workers in the Omaha area since last spring. Over the past six months, the UFCW and OTOC have continued to work closely with the workers at Nebraska Beef to seek justice for the fired workers and to mobilize current workers to stand up for a voice on the job.
