 Swift Workers Standing Up Against ICE Misconduct

The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, sought court intervention to protect the 4th Amendment rights of all Americans and enjoin the government from illegally arresting and detaining workers including U.S. citizens and legal residents while at their workplace.

The lawsuit—filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas— names the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency as defendants.

New Study Exposes Impact of Immigration Raids on America's Children 

SwiftRaidcomprehensive new study by the National Council of La Raza and the Urban Institute documents the psychological trauma and hardships inflicted on children after immigration raids. The report, entitled Paying the Price: The Impact of Immigration Raids on America's Children, looked at 500 children, of which a large majority were U.S. citizens under the age of 10, who had parents detained as a result of recent immigration raids. Included in the study were families from Swift & Company plants. Click here for a copy.

UFCW Nat'l Meeting on ICE Misconduct

The UFCW continues to speak out against the criminalization of working families and is holding field hearings across the country to investigate and expose the illegal actions of Immigration Customs and Enforcement agents.


A National Commission on ICE Misconduct and Violations of Fourth Amendment Rights has been formed to expose injustice, to educate the public, and to make clear recommendations as to how the government should treat its citizenry.
