US/LATIN AMERICAN LABOR SOLIDARITY

 A Brazilian WalMart

The UFCW recognizes the importance of not only reaching out to Latino workers here at home, but also in building a direct relationship with the labor movement in Latin America.  In Latin America, the UFCW, as part of the U.S. labor movement, is working to make sure workers have a voice in their own economic future.

In the last 20 years, the globalization of labor markets has changed the balance of power between employers and employees worldwide. Thanks to workers, local and regional companies have grown into national or multi-national corporations. But in their constant quest to cut costs and drive up profits, companies today are abandoning the workers who made them successful. Globalization, consolidation, and the Wal-Martization of the economy have changed the relationship between employers and employees. The UFCW supports an alternative vision that serves working people throughout the world.
