Communications Department
Communications Department
The Communications Department creates an image and identity for the UFCW that generates member involvement, promotes organizing and growth, and garners support in the field of public opinion for UFCW campaigns. The department’s mission is to help union members and leaders spread the UFCW’s message of strength and solidarity for America’s working families.
With news outlets reaching the public around the clock, a vital function of the department is providing timely support to UFCW members negotiating with employers and workers fighting to gain a union voice. To win public support for union campaigns, the department makes sure that the UFCW’s story is told on the airwaves, seen on the nightly news and read in the morning’s newspaper. This aggressive and proactive approach to generating positive coverage provides a valuable tool in helping workers win a voice on the job, as well as good wages and benefits at the bargaining table.
The Communications Department also publishes regular union news publications and maintains the content of the UFCW web site, which provides forums for UFCW members to voice their opinions on challenges and issues facing today’s working families.
