JBS Workers and Members of UFCW Local 7 in Greeley, CO ratify three year deal

Twenty-four hundred workers at the JBS Swift plant in Greeley, CO ratified a new three year deal on Sunday, April 11.  Workers wages will improve by $1.30 over the next three years, with the first raise of 40 cents is retroactive to November of 2009, when the previous contract ended.  Workers in higher grades (4-7) will receive additional increases also retroactive to November 2009. The new contract maintains affordable health care with no increases over the term of the contract. Workers with 25 years or more of seniority will now earn a fifth week’s paid vacation.  Local 7 also negotiated an office inside the plant and two “walking stewards” to help workers solve problems on the plant floor and represent them in grievances.
